I'm moving my updates to a different blog, http://www.farah-faisal.blogspot.com, since it's an easier address to remember and spell. It's been a great ride updating this blog, hope you'll follow me on to the next chapter!

Assalamu'alaikum and Hello!.......

Okay, I'm at work right now and everything is surprisingly slow. I was expecting the office to be flooded with activities since today is the second day of the Stress Buster program. Stress Buster is this program that me and a few other people had been working for the past few weeks. What we do was to design some arts and crafts activities for people to do while taking a break from studying for finals. Plus we're giving away Stress Kits that has coupons, a Blue Book and stress-busting toys in them.

Yesterday, the office started off the program over in Bursley Hall, where they had a booth that people can come over to pick up their Stress Kits and to decorate a flower pot and make their own flowers. When Katharine first came up with the idea, I couldn't imagine it, but on Tuesday I helped make a few samples for display and the pots and flowers were actually kinda cute. I felt like a little kid again. Unfortunately, I couldn't come to the real deal yesterday at Bursley because of a sorority spa night, which brings me to the second part of my oh-so-eventful life.

Yesterday was Phi Rho's spa night. We went to try out (and buy) new products from Mary Kay (that's the brand) and do some manicures and pedicures in the process. The real story isn't about the spa night itself, but about what happens before that.

So yesterday I had a teeny weeny craving for biryani rice, but looking at my current bank account statement, I can barely afford to go out and smell biryani at a restaurant, let alone buy one. So I, being the resourceful individual that I am, decided to cook, and since it's never fun to eat biryani rice alone, I decided to make 2, 3 batches of it so I can share around (it's always nice to share, isn't it?)

So at 5.10 pm, I had just finished putting the first batch into the rice cooker, and was heating up the gravy for the second batch, when Tina called and said "So yeah, meet me out front in 5 minutes to go to Melody's house" (Melody is the Mary Kay lady). So I turned off my stove (or so I thought), leave my rice cooker on "heat", and went out the door, not expecting that it would run up to 9.30 pm.

I was having fun at Melody's house, trying out new stuff and buying things, but in the back of my head, I was counting the minutes until we can go home so I don't leave whatever guests that I had already invited starving to death. We left at 8.45, making good time for me to arrive back home by 9, when suddenly everyone had a craving for Slurpees. So we stopped at 7 Eleven (I got a jumbo humongous Slurpee myself), and I ended up arriving home at 9.30 pm. I told Dee that the latest I was gonna be was 8.30. This is an hour later than that.

I walked through my door, smelled the biryani and felt kinda weird, it wasn't supposed to smell that strong. I looked into the pot and all of the gravy was gone! Holy shit! I looked at the stove, and realized I didn't completely turn it off, it was set on low, but after4 hours, things do tend to evaporate from the pot. Luckily enough, there was enough meat and veggie to salvage, but no gravy to make the seocnd batch.

The first one turned out okay (the color was really pretty, though it was a bit soft, but hey, I'll do better next time), so I had over the few people that I had originally invited, plus a few others that just happened to come across my path for that night (it was all according to luck kinda thing). Oh, i didn't sleep, too, until 7 am, I was too wired for some reason.

So that was my eventful day. I bought a body mist from Mary Kay called Embrace Harmony. The smell is so, so good. I always feel really protective of my perfume because it's really expensive (I love my VS Heavenly perfume, but it costs me an arm and a leg to buy one), so I don't wear it that much, but the body spray is only 18 bucks, and it smells really, really good. Love it! there's a story behind it, too, but we'll leave it for next time :) ....

GOOD LUCK FOR FINALS, WOLVERINES!!!!

EASTER WEEKEND!!!

Assalamu'alaikum...

Currently at work right now, feeling guilty because I was MIA on Tuesday. Yesterday's Tech Com 281 presentation sucks, aaaarrghhhhh!!!!! I hated it. I'm so not good as bullshitting about stuff in front of people, I need facts and lots of them, then I can present. But to tell me to "wing it" 5 minutes before presentation is guaranteed to make me wanna pee in my pants.

Talking about pants, I seriously need to go shopping and buy myself some fat pants. Not exercising for 3 months = extremely huge hips that won't fit into my jeans anymore. Dang it. I hate being a CS major nowadays because it means I have to concentrate on what I have to do instead of what I wanna do. This is probably why I was so hell bent on joining Phi Sigma Rho in the first place just to force myself not to sit in my room and worry about the never ending homework and studying.

I wonder, do any of my fellow female Wolverines feel like raiding Briarwood Mall or Arborland tomorrow afternoon? I feel like going out (and buying some fat pants or sweats) and just blow off some cash tomorrow…. maybe even go to that new Oxygen bar that had just opened. No, dummy, it’s not a real bar, it’s a place where you go and breathe specially formulated oxygen (weird eh?). It was all the rage in Hollywood, and now that it’s not quite so fabulous there anymore, of course it found it’s way to Ann Arbor.

I read in the paper the other day that Ann Arbor is the 6th least stressful town to live in. Uh-huh. Try going here and see how “un-stressful” our lives really are. Just because we don’t have honking cars all day or 24-hour bars or a strip club for every square mile, doesn’t mean Ann Arbor is sooooooo desirable to live in. Rents are high, everything’s expensive, eating out can cost you an arm and a leg and malls here are no taller than 2 stories high. Don’t get me wrong, I do Heart Ann Arbor (like the t-shirt), but it’s kinda ridiculous to name it 6th Most Desirable Town To Live In. Oh well…

Okay, I need to get back to work. Ciao! Trust me, I’ll pen in again in, oh, let’s say half an hour.

Assalamu'alaikum.....

No quotable quote for today, just a new layout :), and a new song. Actually it's an old one by Brad Kane and Lea Salonga. People can probably tell I haven't downloaded anything good since my computer got reformatted. Actually, I do have some new songs, but I want something Extremely Mellow for today... or this week, or this month, depending on the next time I updated my blog, heheh. But anyway, need to get ready for class! Ciao!

Assalamu'alaikum and hello :) ....

QUOTABLE QUOTE FOR THE DAY: ".... I'm going to put you in my to do list." ---> Jackass

Okay, so there's two parts to this entry. First one is my oh-so-eventful Friday night, and second is the Relay for Life event held at Palmer Filed yesterday.

FRIDAY NIGHT

Yeah, so me being an idiot who doesn't have time to study during the weekend because of the Relay, decided to blow my Friday night too by trying to find something else to do (e.g parties, dances, movies ...) and ended up dragging Elly with me. I had a couple of invites to stuff, and there was the Spring Gala that I was interested to go, so there was plenty of things to do (kinda, because they're all almost the same thing).

The Spring Gala was a bust because no one was there and we decided not to go . There was barely enough people to fill a table, let alone a ballroom. I attribute that to extremely poor publicity because other than the email, there was no flyers or posters or anything else that might attract normal engineers to it ( normal = The Dude isn't the only place outside his room that you can see him at ).

But we managed to find something to do ...... then headed off to Pinball Pete's for about a half hour of shooting people's heads off and getting chopped by crazy zombies.

RELAY FOR LIFE (BARU HABES SEMALAM)

Yeah, okay, so yesterday I went to my sorority retreat, which is the Relay For Life, held at Palmer Field. I arrived there with Tina and Carly at 2 pm, and we're supposed to stay there until 10 pm, because that's the mandatory shift. So the day started out all sunny and nice, there were a few girls sunning, and people were walking and jogging around the track and talking and basically having fun. I walked for 6 laps, then I saw the pizza at our place and swerved straight into it for lunch, hehehe. After that, it was a game of Euchre for me and a few girls, and some of the others played Red Rover (macam main galah panjang sikit-sikit). After that, some of us formed two teams to play soccer. Haha.. it was hillarious, I kept getting hit by the ball, and it kept coming straight at me, but my team lost by 1 anyway. It was great fun, though I was wheezing by the end of it because I haven't exercised in ages, and it was getting reaaaaaaalllllyyy cold. So by 5 o'clock it was getting windy, then sunny, then windy and stayed that way. At around 7 we built a tent, and by 7.30 it was pouring for the rest of the night.

After that I was downright miserable because of the cold (I had only my green hoodie, a pair of t-shirts and a track bottom) and it was beginning to SNOW! The weather was horrible, but we made the best of it by playing Never Have I Ever.... then say something you've never done. I always win, of course, because I never damn well did anything. The girls decided to chet by saying "Never have I ever lived in Malaysia" so I have to say I've done that. But it was good fun while it lasted, even if it was damn cold.

so 10 pm came, and I so wasn't looking forward to my shift at 2 am till 6 am, so I decided to go back home, take a bath, and then come back again. I took my bath, had dinner with Nik (Dinersty, as always), then bundled up for my shift.... only to find out that the rest of the Relay was cancelled due to "unsafe weather". Well, it was unsafe, people can get pneumonia last night. So I collapsed back into bed and slept until now.

I just wanna say thanks again to Adlee, Dayang, Kak Mel, Azwan , Nik and also my parents for donating money towards the relay. Your donation is so greatly appreciated :), waking up this morning I felt great about having done something good for our fight against cancer, even if I am currently having a slight fever and my legs are sore from walking and soccer.

Okay, so I have to go study now, thanks for reading if you are, and I rpomise to get that damn song off my site :) . Ciao!

QUOTABLE QUOTE FOR THE DAY: "Life does not suck.... you do." --> Me

YESTERDAY'S QUOTABLE QUOTE WAS: "You're about as hot as yesterday's coffee.... in the fridge." --> Kate

TOMORROW'S QUOTABLE QUOTE (since I won't have time too put it in): "Of course you don't have to be Wonder Woman, honey... just have her boobs" --> Mr. Asswipe to someone

I'm doing Relay For Life tomorrow! Can't wait! It should be excellent fun... and a lot of work. But still, it's for a good cause, so I'm happy :) . The downside of it, I only have 10 bucks in donations right now from Adlee (time kacih Adlee, jasamu dikenang. ) , and tambah dengan my own donation... that doesn't leave me with much. I'm hoping to earn at least 100 bucks, guess I have to lower the goal to 50 bucks then :( . But anyway, if you STILL want to donate (there's still time!), please click here to donate to Relay For Life!!

Okay, I'm working right now, and I have to get on to it (did I say I love my job?) so I'll pen in later, okay? Hopefully with news from the Relay!

Wassalam....
