I'm moving my updates to a different blog, http://www.farah-faisal.blogspot.com, since it's an easier address to remember and spell. It's been a great ride updating this blog, hope you'll follow me on to the next chapter!

YOU KNOW YOU'RE IN A FUNK WHEN YOU .....

... keep refreshing your Facebook profile over and over thinking that something's gonna change, and then you realize d'oh! You're the one who's supposed to edit stuff.

... read the same sentence over and over again or five minutes.

... stare at your phone debating if you should go on a text message frenzy, then realize that each text message cost money 'cause you didn't sign up or the stupid plan. Then you went on a semi-frenzy anyway (sorry guys..)

... keep wanting to cry when you realize this is the third year you're not gonna be able to back home :( ... I miss home ... waaa!!

... looked at a friend's Facebook profile and squinted really hard to try and make his/her face (or in a particular case, feet) look like an alien.

... eel like being in an "open relationship" with a household appliance (this is a tribute to the now defunct relationship between Sara and KitchenAid)

... look at someone's Halloween costume thinking either "Dude, I wear that in real life" or "Dude, you can't pay me enough to wear that even if it was on a dark night, everyone's blindfolded and you somehow managed to get me drunk or high"

... start playing trash can basketball (or paper balls) or a good 10 minutes The when you realize what you're doing, you start to think, what a funny word the word "balls" is... balls... ball isn't that fun, but the plural has potential...

.... realize that you're rambling in your bloggy blog blog

Borat: Cultural LearningsAamerica for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan

Hoo boy.... this is one of those movies that I personally can't judge whether I really enjoyed it or not. Just because some parts were *painful*. Safiyya, Arinah, David and I watched it on the day it came out a few weeks ago. The theatre was so packed, we couldn't all sit together. The movie itself was so-so for me. The parts I foiund funny were *really* funny, but some of it was just embarrassing to watch. In a way, I'm glad that this movie is very probably never going to air on Malaysian soil. I've seen enough public nudity in my life compared to some of my compatriots, and I was still horrified by the male nudity in this film. Very un-sexy, which was why it was so funny, but still... seeing a naked fat guy sit on Borat's face was enough to make me puke my dinner when I got back home. I still wanna hurl if I think too much about the movie.

In some weird, freakish way, it really brings to light some of the prejudices and stereotype that is prevalent in American society today. And I also think, if you substitute different races and religions portrayed in the movie, those kind of prejudices are prevalent in *any* country where you have people of different living together. So the movie has some goiod message. Except the way the message was packaged, it might be lost on people.

Male nudity = bad, bad images.

Asslamu'alaikum...

Omigod omigod omigod... so today I was walking down South U, on my way back from class, when I saw this guy, who was wearing a suit, pacing in near a bus stop infront of China Gate. First of all, it was a bit weird to be wearing a suit when it's freezing outside, and it's not that often you see a suited guy pacing in front of a chinese restaurant. So I glanced at him and then looked again.... and it was Coach Carr. Lloyd Carr, coach of the Michigan football team! Holy crap. Even though it was cool to meet Bill Gates, I have to say, meeting Coach Carr was *phenomenal*. Probably because he wasn't surrounded by a hundred adoring fans like Mr. Gates was. I was gonna cross the street, but then I figured "It's Coach Carr! You have to say something. Say hi! Shake his hand! Something!" So I introduced myself and we chatted for a bit. I hope I wasn't fawning too much. But it was so cool! There was this guy who shouted from his car "Coach! You ned a ride?" And people kept saying "Congratulations!" to him, even though we lost the game (still a good game though). Certainly a nice, uplifting moment after a sucky day.

Assalamu'alaikum....

Okay, so I've been kinda horrible in updating my page... sorry!! I've been busy lately, with schoolwork and getting sick and catching up with missed school and all that other good stuff... also the abundance in group projects. Funnnn....

Anyways, it seems to be break-up season yet again. Some of the people I know are changing their relationship status to "single". This is further maginified with the Reese-Ryan and Britney-Federjerk break-up. I'm sad about Reese and Ryan, they were cute together and after 7 years, one would think that most of the hurdles have gone. I am NOT sorry about the Britney break-up though, I mean the man refuses to remotely act like a husband and father with the constant partying. Let's see him try and launch that semi-career of his without Brit Brit by his side.

Back to work!
